About This Blog

What this blog covers

This is a small, independent blog about how casino games actually work. Not whether you should play them, and not where to play them, but the mechanics underneath: the rules, the features and the numbers that drive the whole thing.

We cover the usual suspects, pokies, blackjack, roulette, baccarat, video poker and a few others, and we try to explain each one the way you'd explain it to a mate over coffee. What the house edge means. How a bonus round is triggered. Why some bets pay more than others, and what that payout is really telling you.

Who it's for

It's for anyone who's curious about what's going on behind the buttons and the felt. You don't need any background. If you've ever watched a game and wondered how the odds are set, you're in the right spot.

How the articles are made

Each piece is researched from the providers' own game sheets and paytables, plus other sources I can check against. Where the numbers come from a game's official documentation, I'll say so.

Staying independent

The blog takes no payment from casinos and links to none. There's nothing to sell here, just plain explanations.
